Every Other Company Said No. CPM ROOF Said Let’s Get Started.

There’s a category of roofing jobs that most contractors won’t touch — not because the work is beyond them technically, but because the substrate, the structure, or the scope falls outside the comfortable box of standard residential replacements. A standing seam metal roof on a single-wide trailer with no existing sheathing is exactly that kind of job. Every other company in Sidney passed. CPM ROOF showed up, assessed what it would take, and built a system from the decking up that will outlast the structure underneath it.

The customer had found CPM through Yelp and came in with a clear request: metal roof on a single-wide. What the inspection revealed was that the existing roof had no plywood sheathing beneath it — just open framing that couldn’t support a standing seam installation without a complete substrate build-out first. CPM solved that problem, installed the sheathing, and delivered a deep brown Skyline standing seam metal roof with custom-bent 5-inch fascia and a custom standing seam drip edge that no off-the-shelf component could have matched.

The Problem Nobody Else Would Solve

Single-wide trailers present roofing challenges that standard residential experience doesn’t prepare most crews for. The framing spans are different, the structural tolerances are tighter, and the existing roof assemblies often lack the substrate components that conventional roofing products require for proper installation. In this case, the absence of plywood sheathing meant there was no nailable surface for the standing seam panels to attach to — which meant the job couldn’t start until that problem was addressed.

Most contractors looked at the combination of a trailer, no sheathing, and a custom metal system and decided the variables were too complicated. CPM ROOF looked at the same situation and mapped out a solution: install plywood sheathing across the entire roof first, then build the standing seam system on top of a proper substrate.

Full Plywood Sheathing Installation

Before a single piece of metal went up, CPM covered the entire roof in plywood sheathing, fastened properly to the trailer’s existing framing to create a continuous, nailable surface across the full roofline. This phase of the project is entirely invisible once the standing seam panels are in place — but it’s what makes everything above it possible and what gives the finished system a substrate it can actually perform against over time.

Getting the sheathing flat, square, and properly fastened on a trailer roof — where the framing may not be perfectly consistent — requires attention to each panel and careful fastening patterns to avoid soft spots or high points that would telegraph through the finished metal above.

Skyline Standing Seam Metal Roofing

With the sheathing complete, CPM installed Skyline standing seam metal roofing in a rich dark brown finish across the full roofline. Standing seam metal is one of the most durable roofing systems available — the raised seams that interlock between adjacent panels keep fasteners completely concealed and out of the weather, eliminating the exposed screw penetrations that corrugated metal roofs rely on and that become leak points over time.

The dark brown Skyline panels run continuously from ridge to eave on both slopes of the trailer’s simple gable roofline, with clean, consistent seam spacing and a finished ridge cap that seals the peak. The color coordinates with the brown window shutters and trim on the trailer’s exterior, giving the finished installation a cohesive appearance rather than a mismatched afterthought.

Custom 5-Inch Fascia Installation

Standard fascia components aren’t designed for a trailer roofline, and off-the-shelf products rarely fit the geometry or profile of a non-standard structure cleanly. CPM installed custom 5-inch fascia along the full eave perimeter of the trailer roof, fabricated to fit the specific dimensions of this structure and finished in a brown tone that ties into the standing seam panels above.

Custom fascia on a project like this isn’t an upsell — it’s a necessity. Without properly fitted fascia, the eave termination of a standing seam roof on a non-standard structure looks unfinished and leaves gaps that allow water, insects, and wind infiltration at the roofline’s most vulnerable edge.

Custom Bent Standing Seam Drip Edge

The drip edge on a standing seam installation can’t always be sourced from stock inventory when the substrate and eave profile don’t match standard dimensions. For this trailer, CPM fabricated a custom bent standing seam drip edge specifically sized and profiled to integrate with the Skyline panels above and the custom fascia below — a detail that required shop work and precision bending to get right.

That kind of custom metal fabrication separates a contractor who can handle non-standard jobs from one who can only work within the parameters of what’s available at the supply house. CPM’s ability to bend and fit custom components on-site is exactly what made this project possible when no one else would take it on.

The Only Company That Would Do It

The homeowner’s own assessment after the project was complete said everything: CPM ROOF was the only company in Sidney willing to do this job. That’s not a small distinction. It means every other contractor in the area looked at this project and turned it away — and this customer was left without options until CPM came out and built a system that solved every problem the job presented.

A Yelp inquiry turned into a fully sheathed, standing seam metal roof with custom fascia and a bent drip edge that no other local contractor was willing to attempt. That’s the kind of outcome that happens when a crew has the skills, the fabrication capability, and the willingness to take on work that others walk away from.
